A new Supra??? The rumor has been floating around for the last zillion years :-D ( and no Supra has nothing to do with Toyota Alessandro Volta - Completely different cars. Supra should still have the street car look)

Looks very sharp. Must be a very good performer. But, alas the price tag will be higher than the Mazda 6 V6 since it is all wheel drive and turbo charged despite the 2.3L engine and still the engine is actually built by Ford.

Comparing Mazda, Subaru and Mitsu. Mazda is the better in terms of reliability and resale ( although, they are still way behind Honda and Toyota) and the performance numbers must be very competitive with the other two. So, yeah I would rather pick the 6 over the other two.

Interesting. I like the Mazda 6, but the WRX Sti and the Evo8 are still tops in my book. If only Toyota would release something on that level here in the U.S.

competition for Evo/STi? hardly. It's competition certainly for the Legacy GT and for the AWD TSX if and when that comes out.

u can get 6's with 4 cylinders, and 3's with 6 cylinders. I think that the names come from the since dropped 323 and 626. maybe they'll make a 9 to replace the 929 :p

Toyota needs to bring back a car like the supra and have it either in its rwd or an awd drive. Not an option, but make it 1 of the 2. Or they need to bring back the all-trac series of the celica, even thought they are getting rid of the celica, make an all-trac car again with a beefier engine than the 3SGTE. But either of the 2 if they came back would be able to give those 3 cars a good run.

I'd still take an STI or an EVO over this 6 man I mean the AWD is a huge advantage plus I bet the EVO and the STI have more goodies packed within then what the 6 can offer but I guess we'll have to see about that later on if this performer comes out

who gives a damn...no one knows SHIT about the car or the amount of R&D mazda put into this project. 10 years or 3 years...that dont mean a damn thing. If it took scooby/mitu 10 years to get it rite and mazda only 3...is the evo/STi still better cuz its been around for 7 more years? Im sayin wait till the car comes out be4 u start talkin outa your ass about which is better.

    its all good tho...keep ridin'

Evo/STi will most likely still have the edge on handling, chassis stiffness, and tuneability. In terms of AWD, the Evo and the STi will still be on top. The 05 Evo will have the Active Center Differential and the STi already has the DCCD (now with a revised front diff and a yaw sensor on 05 models).

I saw Toyota/Lexus presentation at the Toronto Auto Show. The Toyota president said that Lexus and Toyota are now going to be focusing on two key elements that are not it's strongest suits 1) Styling 2) performance. Toyota plans to launch a number of performance cars. One of them will be the next generation Lexus IS300, which is rumored to be 280-290 HP with coupe, convertibles and sedan trims officially announced. Toyota will be launching some new performance models as well.

Well, they did make the Rod Millen IS430 with 350 HP plus if you look at Acura TL, G35, Maxima etc They are all above 260 HP. As per the Lexus president's claim " if we want to be competitive at the top level of sport sedan category, we will have to put out class leading performance and luxury".

That IS300 with the v8 is pretty cool. Really they need to get some boosted inline 6s on the showroom floors, as well as a four cylinder that makes some torque. I really like Toyota, they just need to give their car some balls.
