Well, I've already done it and driven about 150 miles. No problems. The upper VSV is still connected to the intake manifold - this one MUST be connected to the intake manifold for things to run correctly. The lower one simply equalizes pressure in the gas tank so vacuum doesn't build up in there. It connects before the MAF sensor, so the air is not metered. It just needs filtered air - that's the only reason it's connected to the intake - more cost effective to just use the engine air filter. So, nothing wrong, IMO with having its own filter.

Yes or no?? Is my logic fouled, here? Comments are welcome.

    EVAP valve question...

The VSV (upper one that ticks) routes fuel vapors into the intake manifold. The EVAP (lower) valve equalizes pressure to prevent vacuum from building up in the gas tank, right??

Could I just install a little PCV filter on the tube that connects the EVAP valve to the airbox?? Same difference, right??

This is just a condensed version of my previous post. I don't think it was very clear in it, so this one is more to the point, I suppose.

    Thanks,

Nope - won't work. It actually does some measurments and stuff too which feed input to your ECU. You pull it off - within about 25-45 miles you throw a CEL and wierd (and I stress WIERD) shit starts to happen. I've tested this theory lol...

hmmm maybe its diff in your car...

my "ticker valve" lol (new nickname for that damn thing) only has two lines going to it.

the line going from the manifold to the valve and one going from the valve to the tank. thats it for connections on that unit.

the other line that is part of that system just gets air is run into my turbo intake.

"the other line that is part of that system just gets air is run into my turbo intake."

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^This is the one I'm talking about.^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

When the purge valve that connects into the intake manifold opens, manifold vacuum sucks fuel vapors into the manifold. But, what has that done in the gas tank?? It has created a vacuum in the tank. The valve that connects to the airbox (the one that does not tick) doesn't release anything...it sucks air into the gas tank to equalize the pressure. It only needs filtered air and that's why it's connected to the intake.

I've just provided it with it's own little filter instead of it using the engine air filter.
