    Engine Swap Questions

Im kind of a loser when it comes to mechanical side of cars.. but i have a few questions on some ideas .... i want to put a new/faster engine... my current one is the base 1.6L with 212k on it .. i was thinking of doing the 1.6 or 1.8 and rebuliding that with better cams heads etc ... and turbo ... OR ... the Levin 20 valve twin cam and rebulid that same stuff with turbo... and if i doing that .. where would i find the aftermarket parts that i can use to do all that stuff ? ive tried looking before but i have no idea what to really search lol ... well im open to EVERYTHING let me know

if you don't know anything about it, then i recommend to leave the engine alone. no turbo, no swap, etc.

yeah but you gotta start somewhere... just because you dont know doesnt mean that you should stop and go around the obsticle.. you can also read up on it and LEARN for once. so even though people here dont like that question asked doesnt mean that you should limit yourself.. if you really wanna do it the go for it, but be warned, BE PREPARED FOR A HEADACHE. i do ALMOST all my work to the car and its been easy and hard too. just depends on what you are doing.. the hardest thing ive done is change the tranny which took me three days. and before that id never changed one. just make sure you know what you are getting yourself into. i read up alot on that before i did it. good luck

you are right about having to start somewhere, but don't start with an engine swap and/or turbo. need to learn on stock engine before venturing out to mods like that. if something breaks down then you need to know something about it first because taking it to a shop will cost a lot of money.

changing tranny is a leap imo. I havent even done that yet :(

If you can change a tranny then a simple swap might be do-able. Of course, it would be lots easier if you have friends that know what their doing and wont mind lending a hand/thought if problem arises.

Like I always say, if you have time on your hands you can learn one way or another. Of course, a deep pocket helps as well...

well i have no problem finding the engines... i have a small knowledge of car stuff but i know other people that will help me with the turbo and swap... but i was more wondering about what engine would be better and where i would be able to find the right performance parts for that engine.. cause the only parts i could find are the basic headers exhaust .and im going to end up doing this no matter what i just need opinions on what route to take and sites to help with it... . now saying that any other ideas?
    Thanks

use dat money for a downpayment son. You can get a good used car for 150-200 a month.

Heck some might consider that in itself an engine swap. = )
