    Engine Swap Question

How easy is the engine swap of the 1zzfe engine to the celica gts 2zzfe engine? Would the tranny have to be swapped as well. I think it would be cool to have a 6spd as well.

It would be cheaper and faster to turbocharge your 1zz.

The tranny wouldn't have to be swapped, but if you're going to change engines, you might as well go 100%.

WOW this should be a sticky type thing...

unless you've got a few grand(8 or more USD), don't do it. at that price, it's not worth it...because you'll be doing a LOT of modifications, not to mention whatever shop you pay to do it will charge you an arm and a leg for it all.

"Easy" is probably a relative term.

Rebuilt engine..$2500. 6sp tranny -- another $500? I'm not sure -- I haven't priced them. ECU? shifter cables? You might need to mess with your exhaust a bit as well..I'm not sure.

You're pushing $3000 there, plus what..$2000 for someone to put it in?

Why would it be more expensive than turbocharging my car. I can get an engine rebuilt for about 2500 and I heard it is a pretty easy drop in and that is a 180hp stock engine....

DON'T FORGET you'd have to redo the motor mounts, as well as get a wiring harness. you'll have to relocate the battery, and a few other things.

it's not a direct drop in.

i think he used all caps, and the forum turned it into caps on just the first letter.
