Engine stuttering on idle after SRI install

I just installed my AEM SRI, and every so often, the engine will stutter and RPM will drop from 800 to about 400-600 after a 30 second or longer idle. It also happens only when the A/C is on.

Someone on 2k3corolla.org suggesting cleaning the MAF sensor, but that didn't seem to work. Any ideas on how to remedy this?

i believe its directly related to the increased airflow that the intake delivers-sometimes right b/f the rpm's drop, you hear a sudden HISS sound from the intake-i dont know the details-but its definity the amount of air...

lol.... it's gonna drop with the a/c on...and then start to rev higher... gotta cope with the first initial load and then when it figures that it rev's a bit higher...

usually when your idling for a while-your engine's rpm's will drop a little to save power (kinda like power save mode on your computer monitor) it reduces emissions, saves gas, it just sounds wierd when it happens-almost like the car's gonna take a dump... and when the ac's on, the effects are even worse-loud clumping sounds occasionaly, thats why i dont drive w/ ac-too scary..

I think this is the most likely solution. I'm sure I got the connections in tight, but I'm going to double-check and make sure everything's straight, particularly the VSV connections -- I'm positive the MAF sensor is in proper.

it could be what everyone else is saying, that it's normal and you're overreacting to it - or you may have not re-installed the MAF correctly, or possibly one of the vacuum hoses.

I noticed yesterday that somehow my MAF lost one screw adn the other was loose, so the MAF was about 1/2" out of my CAI tube - was running like absolute shit. Went to toyota, ordered the screws (they didnt have the right ones) and ghetto-rigged it back in. Runs fine now - but if yours isn't securely in there, sealed up correctly, or if a vacuum line isn't in right - that could be your problem.

LOL you don't need ac anyways. It just cuts down on your HP. Just roll down the window, put your shades on and look cool. =P

LOL I only use the ac when my parents are in it cuz they are so picky and they complain alot, but if I'm by myself, I just roll down the windows, blast my sound system, put on my shades, put one hand on the steering wheel, the other on the arm rest and shake my head to ma songs lol.

I live in Vegas= A/C all the time. Whats going on is your compressor turns on and off during your driving according to the temp setting on your dash. If you turn it all the way cold(blue) then it will run alot of the time. When the compressor shuts off and the idle goes from 1100 to 750 sometimes the A/C compressor will get some backpressure and will actually make your idle get down to 600 and get rough. If you hold the pedal down for a sec lightly- like hold it at 1000 for 5 sec, it goes away. Usually only happens when the engine's had a high load, then down to nothing too. Like just off the off ramp, two lights later.

Well I'll be damned. Turned out it was nothing major. The VSV hose was kinked. I straightened it out, and everything's fine now.
