    Engine Question

Just curious as to the difference between the 1zz corolla engine and the GT 2000 or so Celica. More specifically Actual Size and displacement. If it's close I might ditch the TRD S/c and resleeve it then get that Trial S/c. But if it's way off I'll stick with TRD. Thanks in advance

The Trial S/C if for the 2ZZ, not the 1ZZ as far as I know. The 1ZZ's are all the same motor though, just different intake and exhaust manifolds and such.

yes but they said it was for a 2000+ celica GTS and GT, which is why I was asking if there was much of a difference. Like if I got the bore kit from MWR and such. But yeah the first kit they made was for the GTS. But the GT one which is still being finalized had better results because of the better range with VVTI over VVTL-i. So what is the big difference between the 2zz and 1zz. The S/c by Trial just looks so...for lack of a better word, sweeet.

Also I'm curious. How can the S/c be NON carb legal. not enough filtering, too open of piping, what? I haven't seen many Super Chargers that are non carb legal so I'm curious as to why. and just to clear a few things up. The GTS has a 2zz. So the GT has a 1zz then right?

yeah, the GTS has the 2zz and the GT has the 1zz. there are a few difference between the two engines, the first being bore and stroke. the 2zz has an 82mm bore and i think a 75mm stroke while the 1zz has a 79mm bore and a 91.5mm stroke. the longer stroke of the 1zz gives it more torque compared to the 2zz, but the 2zz's shorter stroke allows it to rev much higher

the second difference is compression. the 2zz has 11.5:1 comp ratio while the 1zz is only 10:1 which can be run safely on lower octane fuel (with the help of VVT-i) and its also more boost friendly

the third difference is Lift (VVTL-i) the 2zz has two sperate cam profiles on each cam, a low and a high. when u hit lift u are switching over to the high cam profile which has higher lift and duration and produces more power.

cool thanks for clearing that up. Contacted Trial, the GT kit is only available for Japanesse customers as of now. They also said that making it CARB legal requires lots of time and money so they didn't do it. And unfortunetly the GT or GTS kit would not work on the corolla and they don't plan to make any parts for our rollas  .

yeah I know but basically a big bore kit and all. I mean F/i. Big bore kits can only do so much. be nice to have a 1.9 liter engine but something besides TRD that would be stable and complete would be nice
