    Engine movement and firewall clearance...

Yes, I'm still alive; I just haven't been on the forums because I've been too busy as of late. Anyway...
I'm trying to figure out if I can safely get away with only having 3/4" gap between the firewall and the turbo on my '01. I've made a new hard brake line and am moving the power steering hose down and away from the turbo. I plan on filling my engine mounts with urethane and possibly having some custom brackets made so that I can use an engine damper if that doesn't work. My question is how much does the engine move back when you give it some gas? I want to make sure everything is going to work before I make the final pieces of the downpipe and before I get the manifold and turbo exhaust housing ceramic coated. Here are some pics of my progress for those who wonder.

The clearance would be fine if it wasn't a T04 Compressor housing. Vamps setup is pretty close to mine.

I'm working on trying to get some engine mounts so I can use a two part urethane to fill it. As for the piping, it's 2.75" into the turbo, 2" from turbo to the IC, and 2.5" from the IC to the throttlebody.

wow that looks nice, i didnt realize you were so close to a finished project. And as far as a 1'' clearance, its really risky. And it becomes even closer if you are planning on wrapping the turbo, but that would provide it with some shock absorbing. Then again you dont want it really needing to absorb any shock in the first place.

I'm not wrapping the turbo though. I'm getting it ceramic coated instead.
