It's actually PCV valve. It's about $8 at Toyota. I don't think there's a universal piece for this. Easy to change, I did it about a month ago.

    Charcol filter???

Yeah, the 98+ VVTi and all i dont think have it. its a lil black can in the car, weights like 10 pounds it seems, haha. I would change PCV valve first, you can either go to a quick lube place such a Valvoline one, and there are like 10 dollars. Or go to toyota and get them for 8$ like jpbartosch said. its just a pop out and pop in thing like. Then if you still have problem, do the filter thing. I dont recall me ever having problem with mine, and i have 120thousand miles on my car.

Yeah I never had any problem with my 95 corolla. Best car I ever owned. after a 120k miles the alternator went out but thats it. I killed it in a car accident at 185k miles though. RIP 95, I miss you. :(

Thanks for the help guys, i will try changing that out first. where is it located?

Its just a small piece that plugs into a rubber hose that plugs into engine or part around it. I forget exactly, i changed mine with my dad a while ago. Its best to change them at least 1 time a year i think they say.

a child could do the pcv valve easliy...its a piece of cake... look at red arrow-(93-97 engines only-98-02 has it on the right side of the engine) [IMG]

as far as the charcoal filter-its right under the intake-there's a couple of bolts holding it down-a couple of silicon hoses going into them-and thats about it-its very easy-the question is trying to find it-i would go to your local dealership..

oh yeah-while your at it-get some carberator/choke cleaner from any auto store-and spray that stuff INTO the pcv valve while the engine is running-itll suck it up and will spit it out the exhaust...-its also a good idea to take off the intake and clean the throttle body by spraying that stuff into it while the car's on and revvin too..

    engine light?

All right i took my corolla in for the engine light about 5 months ago and they told me it was because my "pvc valve and charcol filter were bad" I dont know if that is the correct names for the parts but thats my question.

whats the right name or part number for those?
Where can i get these parts cheap?
How hard are they to do yourself?
