Engine dies when headlights come on.

    Strange problem this morning.
I replaced my battery 3 wks ago, no issues. It's a 93 1.8 with 184k on the clock.
This morning, battery dead, jump it no problem, turn the headlights on and it dies, no lights on dash or dome light. Turn lights off and the dome light comes on.
I replacement my positive terminal mount about a year ago because I broke it removing the battery. The Negative side has been building corrosion up but I thought it was due to the old bad battery. It's a little covered now. The connection is tight. BTW

Any thoughts, I am hoping that it's just not making a good connection but I don't know why the battery would be dead.

    Thanks for all the help!!

on new cars you shouldnt do it but you can start the car up and didconnect the battery and see if it dies or you can do a voltage test to see if it is chargeing

Yes put your multimeter on the terminals and then have someone ref the car up to like 2k RPM. If you voltage isn't 13-14v+ your alternator is toast.

    Phase II

I charged the battery last night but needed a jump. Interesting thing is, once it was started it ran and RESTARTED normally. This morning I could run lights. Normal.
I drove it up to Autozone and they tested the battery and altern. which tested good.
I am now looking at the neg terminal. It had already developed a fine layer of corrosion on it. I cleaned it really good 3 wks ago when I installed the new battery, for it was really!!! bad. Looked like a mature Chia Pet.

Could the corrosion on the neg terminal connector be causing this or did the amount of corrosion damage the neg wire? It starts fine now but in the morning it won't start but the battery is good.
