    Engine Burns Oil

I done an oil change about a month ago and checked my oil again. A quart and a half was missing. My cousin said he saw blue smoke on take off. Any solutions? I really need help. It is a 92 corolla 1.6L.
it has 112000 miles on it.The car wasn't driven for three months. I put 5w-20 oil mobil in for oil. Would thicker oil help?Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    thanx

Smoking, it probably is burning some oil. Probably valve stem seals, if I had a guess. However, that 5W-20 is just WAY too thin - and it probably will use a lot of oil for that reason. I would stick to something like 5W-30, but probably would get 10W-30, maybe even 10W-40 in summer time when it's warm.

when you get on the gas (high rpms) corollas have a tendency to burn oil. Supposedly from what Toyota says in my manual, burning oil is not uncommon because oil is left on the piston walls to lube the piston ring and gets burned during each firing. I'm trying different oil additives to see if it helps stop this.. I'd try some stop leak and the thicker oil doesn't help that much, but your running way to thin on the oil.

dont put all the crazy additive unless your engine is in really bad shape!! first you use too thin of an oil of you corolla. your year should use 5w-30 for colder weather and all temp u could use 10w-30 (with the 100k+ motor u could go for that) without a problem. the 5w-20 is too thin to the point where all the oil went into the piston walls/camber and got burn away!!!
just get an oil change again using 10w-30 and you shouldnt have any problem with missing alot of oil.
if it is still missing alot of oil then u can think about putting luas additive along with the oil change but not until u try the 10w-30 first.
let me know how it turn out
