    Engagement Session

So last night was my first engagement session at school. I used a 1D Mark III with a 24-70mm f/2.8L lens (I am in love, wish I had $7k for one). No flash, all available light. I decided to try something different other than using studio strobes or flash units on the camera. Also with the editing.

None of the pictures have been through photoshop and the quality on facebook went down a little but you get the idea.

    Tell me what you think.

Thanks. I like #3 as well!! I picked that one as one of my deliverables for school. I just have to wait and see what my teacher says about it. The one with the hands around the guys neck and its a shot of the ring, everyone loves that one. So I may print that one out and have it submitted for picture of the month at school. Lets see how that goes.

I like the picture of the hand with the ring. Overall nice pictures, just that there isn't a single one where the camera isn't tilted.

Thanks. I guess my style varies. Some more of the interesting pictures are tilted, IMO. I actually have some pictures from my second engagement session that have more leveled pictures.

In some shoots, I'll come in close to the subject, I'll zoom out, I'll frame them differently (different angles), etc. I just try and get something different. It just happens to be that these pictures I got out of these models are tilted. BUT, now that you mentioned it, I should try and include more leveled pictures just so theres more to choose from.

If anyone spots anything that can be worked on, please let me know. I know everyone is different when they photograph something but its cool to hear what everyone has to say. I just may learn something new..lol. The PP on these pictures are my first without using photoshop. I underestimated the power of LR2. However, I would use photoshop if I had to. I just chose not to this time around.

Do you have a flickr account? They have a premium and free account but the free images that you are able to upload process much better than FB provides.

Also you can try some vignetting effects to give more focus/attention to the subjects :)

MovieStar, I'm in the process of trying to steal the one I used..lol. I wish it was mine.

Vibe..I do have a flickr account but never use it. I just put my images on facebook so people that know me see my work real quick. I agree that facebook does bring the quality down alot but no one would really see my flickr account  But I'll try it when I show another set on the forums. I'll see how it goes. I still have to learn how to use it cause I never really did.

I thought the same thing, however, there is a way to have your newly uploaded Flickr pictures (public) to be posted on your FB account automatically. If you look under the Flickr settings look for "Extending" and you should see FB. You will then have to give Flickr permission to access your FB account.

When it updates on your FB, people trying to click on the images from FB will be linked to your Flickr page for that exact picture they want to see.
