There are real electric superchargers from Thomas Knight Turbo, but they are real Eaton blowers with big electric motors on them. He will give you a big discount if no one has installed one on your particular car before.

They're pricey, but these are the real thing.

*edit* Wow, the price has been lowered to $995...

    electric supercharger?

Anyone ever try an electric supercharger?
    www.esupercharger.com
DIY... They claim you don't have to have any mechanical skills what so ever... that right there is contridicting.

It says increases of 2 PSI. most turbos and supers increase by at least 6 right?
They claim 24,000 RPM, but aren't most supers like 4X that?
Ok,I can see how it would increase airflow, but what about everything else? How does the ECU handle this?

I'm interested in this... If I can build it without f'ing anything up.
They can keep their $14.95. hah.. the picture gives it away..
Thats like those people on ebay trying to sell wiring code charts for audio and security installs... haha, get real.

Anyway, what do you all think? I might try it if others have had good results.

    Thanks..

Those things do increase a bit of air flow, but if not done properly can restrict airflow
And if the fin on those things fly off, your engine = dead

Ok... We wouldn't want a loose fin in there... I guess that is a risk with other superchargers?

Yeah Im familiar with the Knight models.. Fairly expensive, probably does do what it's supposed to do... Considering he has recommendations for systems to take care of other aspects of forced induction. Looks legit. The other ones look like leaf blowers or something....

I was just looking for some inexpensive perfomance mod..
I don't race, just want to do a few things to give my car a little bit of performace edge... I know it's still just a family car.. hah
Don't think I could justify $1300 for that... interesting concept though.

Bullshit... Plain and simple... The electric motor required to spool up a electric turbo to provide greater then 1psi of pressure would create so much of a load on your alternator that you would end up loosing more horsepower then you gain from the 1psi boost. Its counter productive :)

I forget where I saw that, but a group of guys installed one and dynoed it. They actually gained like 1hp at 1000rpms and above that lost more then 10 cause it was doing nothing but blocking the intake path.

Yeah, unless you use separate battery banks like the Knight version uses.. that sounds like it would be efficient, no drain on the engine or electrical system there...
