    ECU overload/malfunction - any ideas

:?: What are the limits of mods before the engine computer needs help? Does the addition of a CAI, header, and cat-back screw up the air flow sensor? I know forced induction requires changes, but how about the other stuff? Comments appreciated.

I never heard of an ECU overload or go dead due to performance parts added to the car unless there was a power surge going to it somehow. Any abnormal readings detected by the computer would automatically trigger the Check Engine light or cause an undesired affect of the vehicle's driving condition.

You can have your ECU remapped to accept the new inputs that is created by the mods you add on. You really need that done so you can enjoy your added performance.

I don't know if the ECU for the Corolla can be remapped or not. I never bother with the ECU since I got the TRD piggyback.

I know that when I had the Nissan Alitma, I got the whole ECU remapped by Jet Lab. I had to take out the ECU and send it to them for a few days so they can do the work.

I guess that is why TRD has a piggyback because the original can't be redone, otherwise, why have a separate ECU when you the original can be remapped? I don't know.
