    ECE Headlamps for Corollas

Wondering if ECE (European E-Code) approved headlamps are available in our cars. I'm looking into an HID conversion and I want a ECE lamps since they produce a very even lighting pattern with a razor sharp cutoff (no stray light above cutoff, unlike DOT approved lamps).

Some very deep reading for those of you interested about headlamp glare and related lighting issues.

Also for those who are interested in what ECE approved headlamps are

Interesting... Illusion Lighting "modifies/retrofits" your headlamps with a projector unit to become ECE compliant... I'm not sure I want to be the first guinea pig at $1100+ per modified unit. Also, I'm a little leery with "To keep our prices resonable, all the parts used for this retrofit have been reconditioned. All parts will have at most been used for two years... Shipping both ways will be handled by the buyer."

For that price I think people be getting new igniters and ballasts (especially since you're supplying the headlamp that's getting modified). OEM HID units (OEM/factory HID units are often reliable since they've been tested, but many aftermarket HID units have their share of problems and igniters and ballasts are not cheap to replace...

I would love to see Illusion Lighting's ECE compliant HID/xenon projector unit that was originally a DOT spec headlamp that came off a US spec Corolla...

What I was looking for was an actual non-modified OEM ECE headlamp set... I know they have to exist... isn't the Altis imported to Europe?
