E-brake Boot

Ok, I cut off the old vinyl ebrake handle fabric covering, I installed a nokya ebrake handle but the problem is that I need a ebrake boot that will work with the corolla (1998) automatic that is, and I cant get the button on the tip to stick out all the way, Is it because I need a extending thing or something?
