    dyno numbers

Ok, so i finally got the AIC1 installed. good news, compared to no AIC1, I made about 14lb ft of wtq and 14 whp to put my numbers at 161 whp and 144 wtq

Bad news, that 161 hp isnt at redline! because my car experiences like fuel cut at 6450 rpms, and leans out DRASTICALLY. So i cant make power up to 6800. We tried maxing out the 5th injector around that rpm but it didnt do anything. I think its an ecu problem since fuel flow operation is fine up up to 6450, which just happens to be the pre-s/c redline, and then the fuel flow just kind of stops judging by how quickly the a/f ratio number climbs. So i dont know what i'm gonna do. Also, its just my car since greenfire's dyno info was on file and his car did not do anything like mine and no one else's has.

My car has experienced this sputtering @6500 the whole time ive had the s/c on, before i put on the cai or anything so i know its not mod related. I wish i would've known right after the install that the redline was raised and it shouldnt be acting weird at high rpms....but i didnt even know the redline was supposed to be raised. If i go to toyota, i guess i can change back to the stock airbox and take the split second unit off because i know they would try to give me hell if they saw those. I think i'm gonna give trd a call also.

All in all, i'm not to concerned since everything works great up until that point and nothing on my car will be in danger as long as i dont rev that high, so i'm gonna take my time to make sure i can find out exactly what the problem is and how/if it can be fixed. Oh well, maybe i keep some stress of my drivetrain by not going all the way up to 6800 anyway......

So anyway, for comparison, once again it was
    161 whp....at 6450
    144 whp at 4250

well i did some thinking, and i think it's my ecu. i'm leaning towards an ecu problem instead of say a fuel system problem becase the old redline is 6450, and thats exactly where it leans out and there are no irregularities at all up to that point. It's like the engine knows it can go to 6800 now, but nothing is telling the fuel its supposed to keep injecting up to that point too, so it stops at 6450. If it was the fuel system i think that there would be a gradual leaning out as revs increased and not what looks like the fuel flow totally stops, also no other s/c 1zz cars that i know of have any problem similar to this. So maybe i'm hoping i can break out some wiring diagrams and check everything and that might be it....but i dont think it will be that simple....we'll see.

So what does everybody think??? this is my hypothesis->ecu dilemna, but then again my knowledge of car workings is limited. anybody, please feel free to comment.

its an additional injector controller. It controls the duty cycle of the 5th injector. Comes with its own software so you can dynotune it on a laptop to get the best a/f ratio throughout the powerband and maximize power and economy and what not. its from split second. www.splitsec.com

Have u tried resetting the cars computer?

Take off both leads of the battery and touch them together (away from the battery of course), then re-connect them... start the car and let it run at idle for about 10 minutes. The car will relearn itself. Everything down to a/f mixture. your supposed to do this after every engine upgrade like an intake or exhaust...s/c, etc.

    Just a thought.

    Wow... those numbers are impressive.
Do all Corollas got a 5th injector or you added it?

yeah... your car will run a little better. My best friend showed me, he used to work at a dealership repairing cars, then on the line building the mustangs. He knows more about cars than anyone I know.

yay! i just wnet and reset the ECU like u suggested and my car does run better. don't know about more power but it is a lot smoother when u floor it and it doesn't feel so strained in the upper rpm's, also my exhaust doesn't make the grumbling sound anymore when i let off the gas... its great :D
