i like it... the clutch engages pretty far though... compared to the rsx type s that i drove, i like the clutch on that one better... i didnt have enough street to feel lift though... but its pretty fast...

If you didn't hit lift, wouldn't it feel about the same as any 03+ Corolla?

You can't appreciate the 2ZZ-GE until you hit lift... I agree with t he clutch/shifter action though, the Honda counterparts have always felt a little bit better than the Toyota ones IMO, but the Toyota clutch/shifter are still really good... especially compared to like a Cavalier :p

You're right, but since the Celica and XRS essentially use the same engine, it's a good (or bad, depending on how you look at it) comparison.

Shifter action in the XRS feels pretty much identical to the Celica (at least from what I remember, I drove both, but at different times, so I may be off in my comparison too)

On this subject..... Bill Strong (if that name sounds familiar that's because he's in his 50's/60's and has had a plethora of toyotas that he's owned, modified, and raced since the early 80's..... he currently has probably over 20 toyotas in all, including at least one 3sgte mk1 mr2, northstar v8 mk1 mr2 (not currently up and running), 4age/4agze mr2's, i think a SHO powered mk1 mr2, and dsm turbo powered mk1 mr2) had this to say about the new Corolla XRS (recent post on mr2oc.com:(

I got a kick out of driving 7MGTTEConcept's one night...as for the clutch, I am completely the opposite. I hate the fact that it grabs almost all the way to the floor...the clutch in my old Firebird grabbed and released right near the top...great for easy shifts.
