    DRL question

Ok, so I finally got off my lazy butt and disabled my DRL, but I want to know if it can't be turned on/off from the switch while driving?I was under the impression that it would work like a normal switch, turn it on when I want, turn it off when I want. But I have to set the switch position whe the engine is off, is this the only way it works???

My DRL goes off and on, anytime.

I'll drive, shut off my lights, pass a person and turn them back on.

If that is what you are referring to.

About shyguy, you should e-mail him again: supershyguy_2000@yahoo.com I am sure he probably sells them.

If you just ground that yellow wire without putting the stupid switch in there your lights will function just like normal lights, you turn them 1 click and the parking lights turn on, you turn them 2 clicks and all lights come on... Just like normal headlights. There is no reason to put a switch in your wiring when disableing the DRLs. If you want to have your DRL's switchable, then splice a switch into the main red wire that leads into the DRL box. Then it dosnt matter if your engine is off or on, you can switch the DRLs off or on whenever you freakin please, not just when the engine is off.

Not a bad idea, except that when you cut power to the whole DRL relay you also lose your tail lights, your brake light, your signal lights and everything. So you would HAVE to have that switch on if you planned on driving ANYWHERE, so you essentially would not have the DRL dissabled EVER.

Also your pst has been edited for uneccesary flaming. Lets not see that again.

Stinkey, all you loose when cutting power to the DRL box are you headights(maby the tail lights too) but you still have all blinkers and your brake lights. So durring the day you drive with the DRL power off, and at night turn it on so you have your lights, but then if you want to turn your lights off, you just flip the switch off, then when you want lights back on, flip the switch back on. Trust me, i checked to make sure i still had all the blinkers and brake lights.

To test it without cutting the red wire, just cut a peice off of a plastic bag, and put it inside the connecter so that the red wire dosnt make a connection, then get out and check your blinkers and brake lights, they will still work. I disabled my DRL's this way for a few months untill i heard of the way to just ground the yellow wire, i decided that mod was better so i did it that way, then your headlights act perfectly normal, like good old fashioned headlights.

your probably right then. I just know way back when I was trying to do it I couldnt get my signal lights to work after I cut power. Mabey mine was different? Or I could just remember wrong. I think with the other methods though cutting that red wire is NOT recomended anyway. If you want no sign of anything then the relay way is what you want to do. If you dont want to shell out the cash then the yellow wire trick is deff for you.
