does anybody know about transmission oil coolers?

my friend purchased an 05 highlander and the sticker says it has transmission oil cooler. i wonder if there is a way to install it on my 05 corolla. my other friend also has an 01 tundra and its transmission fluid never seems to turn brown or get dirty even after having driven it for 94,000 miles. the other day i drained the tundra's transmission fluid after driving it for 30 min. and it did not get hot at all like it does on my other cars, so i'm guessing it probably has a transmission cooler also. i'm really curious if it is possible to install it on my corolla so that i do not have to service it often and have it last a long time. and i remember reading somewhere that the celica has an engine oil cooler, which i'm assuming will help keep the engine cool and ulitmately make it last longer too.

You can install one by using one of the transition oil lines that goes inside your radiator (on the side).
You should give it some thought as to how you want to install it and what size cooler to get.

If turbo’ing/NOS’ing your ride, probably a medium size unit will do, for NA engines, small is fine.
You can mount the cooler by using the return line from the radiator back to the trany, splice and connect the cooler between them.

The only drawback to doing this is that if you have an auto trany w/overdrive (not VE models), the oil may become to cool during winter driving that your overdrive will not engage, the oil still needs to be at a certain minimum temperature to engage overdrive.

In this case, you should connect the cooler to the hose running from the trany into the radiator, this way you’ll cool the oil prior to the radiator, and in turn the radiator will raise the temperature and deliver the trany fluid at the proper operating range.
