Do I need an amp if I get aftermarket speakers?

    Do I need an amp if I get aftermarket speakers?

    Do I need an amp if I get aftermarket speakers? or is the 7600 powerful enough to power them

    no you do not need an amp. If the rms of ure head unit is significantly less then of hte speakers then it would be an improvement to the sound but is not necessary.

    Its not necessary but recommended. An amp only gives your speakers power with less distortion if you wanna crank it up (or are driving on the freeway with the windows down).... In other words, your speakers will sound better and will be less likely to have any problems (blowing one) if you have an amp...


    I don't mean get an amp and don't get new speakers either If you get an amp and keep your stock speakers you aren't really improving anything either.... If all you have is money for new speakers do that, it will sound a lot better then the stock setup. But in the end you need a new head unit with pre-amp out puts, amp and speakers for the best sounding setup...

    I got a new headunit, pioneer 7600, now wanna upgrade speakers.. thats why i am asking about amp+speakers

    its recommended but not always necessary. An amp just unlocks the potential of your new speakers. Your head unit should power the new speakers you get, but some frequency ranges it might not do ok in. You would be amazed at the difference of the same setup with and without an amp. Spend the extra money and get it if you can, if not, no biggie.
