    disassembled my bad transmission

well as many of you know my transmission seized and left me stranded so I had to tow it 200 miles home.. with both front wheels locked. I swapped in a new tranny and now I decided to disassemble the old one.

    The results...
Minor damage to a few gears
    Bearing exploded
Tons of metal shavings in the engine.. magnet was wayy beyond saturated
and finally, sludge on the sidewalls of the transmission case.
(car had 76K when the tranny died)

the sludge issue I'm really surprised with. I'd recommend people swap their tranny fluid every 30K or switch to full synthetic as I have done with my new transmission.. my new one will be running straight MT90 from now on. There was roughly 2mm of sludge on the walls.

as you can see from the pictures, the bearing basically exploded.. what happened next was it dropped metal in to the engine which damaged the gears and finally it jumped in to the differential and damaged it. I found that the differential had a really excessive amount of play and makes a grinding sound when I turn the gears with my fingers. So, a single bearing nuked the whole thing.

Reading what's left of a metal plate from the bearing I can make out 'NACHI JAPAN' and 2581W06S3Z

I change every year near thanksgiving!
changed the oil filter in the tranny, clean... so I guess it's good
I also cleaned it once with seafoam auto tranny cleany thingy, put it, run it 2 minutes (sez to do it for a few miles) and watch the gum and shit pour out.
it really smelled that time like rotted smashed diapers :D

after that it shifted butter smooth ever since
