    Disable DRL without harness

Underneath your console near your feet you can locate the DRL "box" that controls other automatic lights, foglights, high beams, etc... from that box there is a bundle of wires going to it. The yellow wire signals this box to tell it that the car is running so it needs to turn on the DRL or the automatic lights. Grounding this wire DISABLES your DRL and your Auto lights.
Since this is to some a hazard, you can get a DRL module on ebay that will turn your highbeamns on at 20% rather then 100%. Why do this? If you have HIDs this will benefit you as it did me.

MAtrix and Vibe have this DRL disable feature and it worked for me with no ill side effects:

i was jsut thinking, is there a way we can hook up a switch between the wire and the contact point on the box. That way we can enable and disable the DRL's incase we wanna go in for warranty repair or something. Just wont make it look fishy if your lites dont come on, cause i'm sure someone at toyota parts knows that corollas have DRL's. Just an idea, lemme know if anyone comes up with something

thanx 2003C-RollaCE, i jsut think it would make it safer for us when we go for repairs, cause i know what happens, if somethings off on your car, the mechanics recognize it, and you have to explain for like an hour to try and tell them its no that. will look forward to the DIY, i would do it, but not much off an electrical person, i just follow instructions to get it done,

i would try home depot first or maybe like auto zone or something. i think i remember seeing switches for various things there. also how much did you get the harness for? i wanna buy one, but $55 is alot just to brighten my lights. i'll do it a lil later, unless i get a good deal on the harness.

you can wire any kind of switch in there. you could use a light switch from your house if you wanted. Auto parts stores have them as well as placs like radio shack. It really doesnt matter. Just if you use it to break the circ to ground then your drl's will be enabled. flip the switch to "ON" and it will dissable them.

Would this trick/DIY work on the Canadian edition? We don't have the sensor that tells the car if its light out. Would the wire(s) that needed to be grounded be different color?
