By the looks of things, I don't think the rug doctor will fare any better.

    Dirty freakin car!

So my new 2003 Corolla LE has quite an odor in it, so I decided to take out the front and back seats all together and give them a good steam cleaning. To my surprise, I think I found out the source of the odor, which I found underneath the backseat.

    - Batteries
    - Coins
    - Marbles
    - French Fries
    - Arcade Tokens
    - Food
    - Candy
    - Bubblegum
    - More food
    - Pens
    - Red stick used to spread cheese on crackers

    Here's a pic:

I don't know who took care of this car before, but they didn't do a good job at all. I hope that I can get the smell out. The bottom of the backseat took quite a beating to the food...

I've used an exacto to cut out most of the dirty stuff, but I'll never be able to get all of it out.

Here is the whole gallery of my dirty car.

My poor steam cleaner died on me while cleaning my car, so I'm renting a rug doctor tomorrow :)

damn. in all my years of taking apart car interiors for cleaning/detailing and to install audio wiring and shit... i don't think i've ever seen anything like that...

the worst i've seen was a pair of soiled underwear and some used condoms...

Someone probably lived in that car and used the back area as an apartment.

The rug doctor is doing pretty well with getting all of the coffee, creamer and whatever else is on the floor out. It is really, really bad. I've gone over a certain area about 50 times (not joking) and I am still pulling out stuff. It's a large project, but I will feel so much better knowing that Iwill be driving a really, really clean car. And there won't be any odors!

No. They were sticky to the touch, and felt like candy. I'm not sure what type of candy looks or feels like that (it felt like it was gooey inside -- not sure if that's intentional or because it was hot in there).
