powerlockdoors: i was in my friends driveway....with my car facing the house...and i wake up this morning to drive back home...and i had a fucking ticket on my window
powerlockdoors: i open it up and read it......you are being cited for having no front license plate
powerlockdoors: how on earth could he have seen that from the street? that means he had to have gotten out of his car....walked around to the front of my car which was 5 inches from the garage door...and looked at it...
    powerlockdoors: fucking pathetic.

That's a Nazi move right there. :) I didn't know cops could cite while on your property. I know they can make arrests, but this is bullshit. I smell a potential lawsuit.

i was as close as i could get without hitting it.

it doesnt matter if you are 2inches on public property it still counts as being on public property. think of it this way...if its past 2am here in colorado, and you are drunk...you have 1 foot on your lawn and 1 foot on the sidewalk...and a cop walks by...sees you drunk....you can get arrested for public drunkeness...

yeah, that's a good idea...we have to here, if there's no parking on the street, we have to park sideways on our driveway (my driveway isn't even a whole car size driveway)...sf parking enforcement is gay..if you're walking down the street on the sidewalk and a car is in the way, they can call on you, all they do is give them your house number...even after i move the car already, they leave it on my front door.

I got one for you - car parked in garage, with car cover on. Cop writes a ticket and sticks it in the mailbox. Cited for having non-current plates (car was stored in garage for about 3 years at the time). Later one received a summons to show up to court, was supposed to be fined $100 a day until I get the tags updated.

After three months of fighting over this BS - ended up paying $50 to have my car towed to a junkyard. No fines were levied - just my time and $50 spent. Supposedly the cop visually verified that the car didn't have current plates??? Must of had x-ray vision - as I can't see anything through the garage, not much less than through a car cover. Judge did not through this out - hence dragging this out. Was so pissed off - that I had the car scrapped (old project car) - as the biggest issue was that it was an "eyesore" - inside my own garage.

hmmmm....maybe someone knows that you have that car in there w/ non current plates and had taken a pic of it when you had your garage door open, while working on the car or something...and showed it to a cop? lol, i don't know...

Yeah, still - I brought up very valid points - trespassing (I got signs all over the place), private property, harassment, etc. - the judge didn't through it out. My attorney said we did everything right - the law was on my side, but I did not get it overturned. I technically didn't lose or win the case - was given two choices. Get rid of the car or get the tags renewed (there is no tag rule where I lived at - ie, returning plates on a car that was no longer registered). Oh well - I got owned, but atleast I didn't have to pay any fines.
