I have a sri on my 02 and I noticed a little bit of power increase mainly why that was my first mod. I have had no prob with water intake cause its a sri

They also have bypass values for cai that stops water from getting into your engine

Install it. Assuming your SRI isn't total cheap Ebay junk with incorrect sensor mounts. I started with just exhaust with my 02. I wasn't very impressed. I added an Injen SRI to the mix and it was a significant improvement. The throttle response when I need to punch it is way better. My ex-fiance has an 02 S stock and she preferred to drive mine. Some say an intake is some psycho-somatic mod which doesn't do anything, I beg to differ, especially in conjunction with exhaust. The downside, I lost 2-3 MPG's on my auto S, but some of it is attributed to how my driving habits change with it.

people say cold airs give more power cause they sucked in cold air..duh..

short ram just replaces your stock air box..i dont see much help in it other than the hissing sound

this should be in engine section:
there's less restriction w/ either a SRI or CAI, which will generally give you a little boost...warmer air sucked in as part of the SRI setup wont effect your low end torque as much as CAI, w/ CAI-you drain a lot of your low end power, but gain quite a bit once your rpms reach some ungodly number...that being said, CAI arent usually as loud b/c the filter is usually situated away from the engine-in a fender, or way down near the ground somewhere- which leads to the dangerous factors...water in engine...which is why going with SRI isnt that bad after all.. http://vvti.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1808 -one of my experiences with CAI

They have a device that can go in the cold air intakes that if water gets in, it sprays it out to protect your engine. I forget the name, but i remember seeing one. Anyone give more info on this?

SRI is better, I stick to my cai being bullshit because of the length it has to travel.

just b/c its cheap ebay intake doesnt mean anything-its whether its sensor friendly or not-and whether it fits-my ebay intake is the best-thats b/c its only a tube-and i use a K&N filter with it...

SRI's are going to have better low-end power than CAI's. Even though the SRI doesn't really give an increase of low-end (the SRI really kicks in around 4.2 and climbs steadily), the short tubing prevents the loss of low-end that CAI's have. Depending on the car, an SRI may actually have a higher peak hp than a CAI (at least they do on the Matrix). The CAI, on the other hand, is going to have a larger spike of power once it kicks in.
