    Define "Street Racing"

I've read a lot of threads on here bashing street racing and I was just curious what everyones definition of street racing is? Is street racing when you pull up to a stop light and race the fool next to you reving on his engine? Or is street racing when you are on the freeway at 11pm and some guy gives you a little ricer flyby and you pursue him over the posted speed limit? Or is street racing when you just want to see how fast your car can go so you take her up over 100mph when nobody else is around? I'm just curious what everyones thoughts on this are because all of these racing types are definatly very different in risk and the only thing they share in common is they all break the law :) But then again when you do 66mph in a 65mph you are technically racing and breaking the law. But anyways, everyone define "Street Racing" :)

I'll start it off :) Street racing to me is when you block off a street and run high speed races against other cars, its also when you pull up to a stop light and race the guy next to you over 100mph.

Ooo this is gonna be fun!

Yes, this qualifies -- it is an actual race

That's just driving like a maniac --- depending on how *far* over the posted limit you're going it can be seriously dangerous to do this on the freeway and its classified as wreckless driving

    I call that ' test n tune ' LOL

Just because you're doing 66 in a 65 doesnt mean you're racing. (however some cops will try to stick that on you to be an asshole) It does however mean you are speeding, so whichever way you look at it, you're breaking a law.

I think street raging is anything on public roads where you go up aginst another car to see who can read the light better, who can pull away quicker, or who has better handeling in their car, if you do any of these things on your own then its testing...

yeah it sounds good to me too. if you get caught street racing but hope you got a jet engine in there because the state troopers will catch up to you in either the Corvettes or the Camaros, or the Impala. these cars can haul major ass.

    YES

    YES

Or is street racing when you just want to see how fast your car can go so you take her up over 100mph when nobody else is around? [/quote] Well, technically not racing, but still stupid and illegal.

Yes, different in risk, but all very risky situations that put innocent people in danger.

No, they all have in common the fact that you are putting innocent people in danger, risking your car, and youre own life, as well as bringing pain and suffering to the families of those that you may kill, and taking police resources away from other things they could be doing.

How is going 1mph over the speed limit "racing"?

So its not racing until you hit 100mph?? I dont see stop lights on interstate highways.....so most stop lights are on streets that have 25-50mph zones.

Lets break it down....STREET....RACING. Any form of RACING on the STREET.

I would much rather see street racers in industrial zones late at night blocking off the streets, then on public streets that arent closed off.

my definition of StreetRacing is........ a bunch of people with nothing better to do but break the law, attempt to show off and in the process risk their own life and the lives of others by causing wrecks or something of that kind.

he was racing an IROC when he came across a two state troopers who had pulled over another car. they left that guy and went after my neighbor and the IROC.He said they caought the guy in the IROC pretty easily. it was him they had a hard time trying to catch up to.his car is modified and has 400 RWHP so yeah i guess you can say he likes to race. when he got out he went racing again.
