if you decked it that much, it may not be a non-interference motor anymore.....

    "Decking the head"

Thinking about taking a .001 off the head to raise compression to around 11.5:1. I know I will lose some displacement, but not to worry. Been reading about how 1zz is a non-interference motor- so Im thinking about that job + an eManage and get rid of the rev limiter- around 7K would be good. I have a spare head to do this with and will put in new valve springs. Does anyone know of a copper head gasket for a 1zz? My guess is a 20-30HP gain after tuning. I know a turboed w/stock would smoke that in a 1/4, but where can you get a full useable turbo kit?

Basically no one has a reliable turbo, the S/C is for +03 and I'm using a machinist I know well, not to mention a flowmatching job is about 1000 and no one makes a decent ex. header. This just seems like a good $:HP ratio....

basically it means that.... for example.... if the timing belt were to break and the valves get stuck open...... then the piston can't come up and smash it.....

Why not just get the forged wiseco pistons that up the compression?

Or better yet the sleeve kit to bore it out and high comp pistons...

I guess the answer to that is money...

killing the rev limiter? are you asking your motor to overrev?

i honestly hope that you're a good driver if you do that.

I bounce off my limiter fairly regularly..there's no way I'd want it eliminated..

I think he meant raise it to 7k, though..

well... if it stays non interference it won't be a problem... like i've said on here before, racer25's 7a-fe has run at (or over) 8,000 rpm's on a fairly "stock" motor.... (it is, however, using taller 4a-fe pistons).... but around 7,000-7,500 (i don't remember anymroe... i'd have to ask him) the valves just floated & he had no power....

Yeah, I have valva springs on order from monkeywrenchracing.com. I hoping that will take care of any valve float. Im gonna have the machininst look at the valves themselves. If he thinks I should get Ti valves, then Ill hook those up too. The springs were $250. Yeah, new sleeves and pistons are quite expensive, and theres alot that can go wrong there. I dont even think a .001 cut will put the valves in harms way. Yes, Im looking for a 7000 rev limit. Thats gonna be a pain- the only way to change it is w/ a Power FC. I might leave the rev lmit where its at.

Yeah Im a pretty decent driver. I look at my tach way more than my speedo. I keep two hands on the wheel, look both ways before crossing.

Please keep em coming, I want to get as many angles covered as I can. Thanks for he $.02 donations, I need em...

Got the head sitting here. New valves springs, probably will get new valves. Who here is the 160hp N/A car? NEED INFO.

And BTW Ive got a '03 ex. header modified to fit into a 98-02(cut here weld there) to go w/ this setup. <I think> Im gonna need a celica's TB and In. Mani. to get the most out of all this. But I need an idea of how much to tune- I dont wanna spend big $$$ on alot of dynos. Just 2 or 3...
