    Dash Rattle

I know all the Tundra guys have heard about this one.

Used the Home Depot Backing Rod fix, which worked great for about 3 months...now it's back...

    AND ANGRY!

Any new ideas? I can't tell if it's a rubbing coming from near the radio or what.

Just spray right over everything? Even the seats? Easy clean-up for this S.Y. moments in rush hour. :D

I remember someone, at the site WE came from, finding narrow enough weatherstripping and "stuffing" it around the dash that effectively stopped the rattle.

I've also heard of some people finding the rattle with the hood, and other places. Frankly (and sadly) the Tundra isn't entirely rattle proof.

Hell Yeah! I once saw a Jeep Wranger that was 100% line-x'd on the inside. Seats, Floor, Dash, even the steering wheel :) It was insane. It was hell-a lifted and muddy too so I think the guy just takes it home and pressure washes it out. All the guages were still showing though the line-x but I'm sure if something broke he would have to chip the stuff away to get at the screws.

You know, I've been thinking about just dis-assembling the entire dash...wondering if maybe something is loose.

It's really not a rattle, more like a rubbing sound. Plastic versus plastic.

I will say one thing. When I switched my stereo system from stock to an aftermarket one, my rattle died down substantially. It is NOWHERE near as bad as it was.

Bingo! When I rest my hand on the dash right above my stereo it seems to go away.

ya i fixed my rattle by using some felt washers where the screw mount the stereo dash (big black thing) to the main dash, the rattle is just about gone, only comees up on really cold days.

My solution for that rattle (there are a couple of different dash rattles, believe it or not) was a ProLegend XM Radio mount for my Roady XT. It sticks out from my console and is used to hold my Roady XT, so I can use it.

I've grown to hate it, and when I can, I plan on upgrading to an XM radio integrated into my beloved Alpine CDA-9856.
