    Crazy Question: 98-99 engine in a 2002?

Ok guys I have a what may be a crazy question, what would be involved in swapping a non-vvti MAP sensor'd 98-99 engine into my 02 corolla?.The reason I am asking is because my engine has over 80k on it and I have seen a few 98-99 engines for sale with less than 35k on them and I now that I would lose the vvti function but I would gain MAP sensor and it would be less complicated to convert to a return fuel system or run ITBs or forced induction.Am I crazy or can this be done?:superconf

It can be done --- however... things to consider:

    1) your wiring harness will be no good
    2) your ECU will be no good
    3) your throttle body should be replaced

If you replace both of those, and you get a MAP sensor (i happen to have a couple spares, LOL) then you're good to go.

I had ZERO issues going manual on a 98-02 series.

Motor mounts are the exact same since the three primary mounts are on the transmission. Only 1 mount is located on the motor itself and that is the same from 98-02
