    Couple O' questions.......

First off, hi all, this is a great site and has helped me already.

    1. Anyone running 2.5 inch exhaust WITH and WITHOUT the resonator? What would you suggest.

    2. Anyone used the Cosmo CAI or SRI? Experiences....

    3. What are guys generally running and shifting their 2003 corollas at? Are you driving around at 4000rpm, higher or lower? SHould I shift at 5000 or 6000? What is safe. It is a higher redline than I am used to, except on my bike, so I am a little leary about opening it up.

Let me know. I appreciate the help.

welcome to the forum :) hope we can be of some help.

    1.) no idea

2.) i have the TRD CAI, cant comment on the cosmo.

3.) day to day driving shifts at about 3k. really running it, shifts at 6200. (a few ticks before fuel cutoff) you ought to try an XRS or a honda S2K, then youll be shifitng at 8000 and change.

The 1zz engine is capable of higher than 6450 rpms (redline on our cars). TRUST ME, if hitting redline on a regular basis would screw something up, I wouldn't have an engine left in my 2003. I hit the rev limiter all the time in my car and I've got 37,000 miles on it....done it since the car was broke in (1500 mi.). Never had a problem yet. Engine compression is still 200psi on all 4 cylinders (rings and valves in good shape). You won't hurt anything. It's a bullet-proof engine.

Well, I took my Magnaflow back in today, had 2.5 installed from the second cat back and removed the resonator and I must say, I like it very much. Not ricey at all. Pulls a little better. Need a SAI. Very happy though. I would recommend the setup.

As for shifting, I have been shifting around 4000 to 5000 under hard excelleration and 3000 to 3500 normally.... any problems with that?

    Re: Couple O' questions.......

    1) I would go with a 2.5" exhaust with a resonator unless you want it stupidly loud.

    2) I have the Cosmo SR and it's ok, nothing special but it doesn't come with instructions, at all so be warned there.

    3) Run the piss out of it, the 1ZZ is a great motor and has the most power 200 RPM's shy of it's Redline, so yeah, don't be afraid to drive it hard
