    Corolla LE Fog Lights

    Hi All,

Sorry if this question has been asked before but I can't seem to find an answer after doing a search.

I have a 2004 Corolla LE. I would like to get the OEM fog lights. If I were to go to the dealer, can I just get the lights and plug them in? Does it come with a switch to turn them on and off?

I just want to see how easy/hard it would be to add the lights.

    Thanks in advance...

    -Mario

you couldnt find anything off the search? thats strange..well anyways, you could get the foglights from the dealer, gonna be something like $150 for each, so bout $300 total. It does not come with the swich as LE's dont come stock with foglights. I haven't dont this mod to my CE but others have and I believe they just hooked it up to toggle switches.

    Brownbanana,

I found some stuff but I was overwhelmed by all the posts. Most of them talk about the "not really OEM" fog lights.

If I go with the dealer lights, do I need to do any wiring? Or is it a plug n play deal?

    Thanks.

im not sure exactly. a couple people have installed the real OEM foglights in their CE or LE. I think they just did their own simple wiring to a switch they mounted themselves. im not sure exact so ill wait for them to post on this.

Where did you find them for $150 each from a dealer? I have been trying to add genuine fog lights to my CE but it's expensive from dealers... about $250-300 a light. I have seen the genuine lights as low as $220 at a wholesale OEM parts supplier before. Only thing cheaper is the stuff on ebay but for the most part are fog lights that fit the Altis and require cutting of your bumper for proper fitment.

Holler at me if you know of cheaper fog lights.

I've been wanting to do this too, but man those cost more than tail lights.

When I got my CE almost 2 years ago, I ask the dealer on how much it would cost me to buy the parts and have them installed. They quoted me a price around $500+ bucks. I dont know how much they would quote for it now, but If there is a way to cut the cost in half, thats worth looking into. :)

It's not exactly "plug-and-play"... its more like "plug-and-no-play." I have an LE and if you look under the front bumper where the fog lights are supposed to be, there are 2 harnesses hanging there with nothing connected to it. My best guess is that its for fog lights.... Where they run to, and how you would hook up a switch to that? I dont know. But I would love to.

Here's my real question: I have an LE and found that there are two "unused" harnesses under the bumper where the fog lights would be. Are those for fog lights? If so, can I just hook up a pair of factory fogs to them, and somehow wire a switch into there? Has anyone done that to their LE? Also, where is the fog light switch in the S located? I'm just being curious... if someone can post a pic of where the switch is and what it looks like, I'd really appreaciate it. Thx!

there should be a few ppl on here who did the front bumper swap that should have them left over. Check around, they might be willing to sell?

Most vehicles with fog light options will have the harness plugs up front, fogs or not. I had these plugs on my 4x2 F150's. The 4x4 F150's have the fogs installed. It is not worth having different electrical harnesses on the manufacturing line, and could cause confusion if the wrong harness was installed for a particular Vin. The expense for the OEM stuff is for the interior switch as well as the light fixtures. On the F150 for example, you replace the entire headlight switch. The one for the fog lights have an additional stop in the switch for the lights (as well as the little icon on the label for the switch also).
The same likely holds true for the Corolla. I have an '05 S (got it 5 days ago). The fog light switch is in the headlight stalk on the steering wheel. There is a ribbed band that you can twist to engage the fogs. If you do not have a band that twists, then you would need to have the stalk replaced with the correct one. You can imagine the labor, hence the high cost quoted from dealers. Aftermarket fog lights can be had for about $50 with a cheap switch included. You will have to decide how much you're willing to spend for the "factory" look.

Thanks for the info and welcome to the boards!

I am going to get the factory lights for sure but don't need to wire exactly like factory if it is too much trouble. Can you go into more detail on the stalk and ribbed band you mentioned? When I installed my new front bumper the other day I definitely say wires for the fogs zip-tied away. I would like to see how much of the necessary equipment is already there.

When i asked the dealer about fogs, they didnt even tell me what the whole kit would cost, he just said "well i think there pretty expensive" then looked on his comp and said one light would cost $250, with no wiring or switch or anything, just the light.

The dealer dosnt even sell a foglight 'kit,' you would have to buy the parts needed individually. i.e. left fog + right fog + switch stuff and maybe even a new wiring harness to run from the fuse box to the switch location or something.

I am in in the same boat guys

Here is where I am at on installing my lights. I found two OEM lights on Ebay for $100. What can I say I got lucky. Found a guy that was selling 03-04 headlights and got lucky that the fogs were there too. Ok, as far as the OEM switch goes. I priced it out at the dealer and they want 165.00 for the switch. I have had the lower column cover off while putting in the alarm system. I dont think it would be too hard to switch the head light switch lever with one that has the foglight switch/headlight switch. I guess it all depends on weather you want your fog lights to work/and look factory or if you want it to work differently (as in on and off with a switch) There are some states that require your fog lights to only work with your dims. Well, now what am I going to do? Do I spend 160.00 as apposed to $30 for a switch, relay, and wiring? Good luck

Update: I looked all over for my fog light harness and can not find them anywhere. It is hard to believe that they would not be there somewhere. Is it possible they changed the harness mid year? It's not that big of deal I will just order two fog light connectors and run my own wiring. Maybe use the stock fog light fuse and relay location in the fuse box.
