Most of them up here are leased from the Ford Dealership (special government lease), and the dealership sells them after the lease is over, 1999-2001 Crown Victoria Interceptors go for $3500 to $6000 CDN here, most end up in Taxi fleets, and a few end up in the hands of regular citizens...

from what i know they get them at a discount if purchased in a set of 5 or more. After they are used they are auctioned or if a lower milage vehicle they get sold at the dealer.

ok now this I know all about... the eather lease or buy them from dealerships... the ones that have been leased go back to the dealership and are sold to auto auctions... the ones that are bought are given to the officer that drove it for him to do what he wants with it... usually sold right away... as for extreme under cover (your vipers, GTOs, corvettes, saturns, etc) those are theft recovery where the insurance has already paid off, or purtached at auction from repos.

Not really here they use a new vehicles. the corvettes, camaros and others like it are not siezed. cars such as those are very basic on the inside and only come with basic functions on the engine is heavily worked on. i was told this at the South Texas Scorcher ( Local Car Show ) and the chief of police said this and had the cars on display, same goes for the Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS).

from what i know, the ones in my area are bought from dealers. they use them for about a year or two or once they reach a certain mileage, they get rid of the car.
there's a place in my area where they auction off cops cars and cars that were seized by the cops, customs etc. i've seen 1-2 yr. old cop cars that have 150,000kms on the car. that's a lot for 1-2 yr old car!
