    Coolant

Whats the difference between the many types of coolant? Green, Pink & red. Is it ok to use the silver bottle with an orange cap from prestone? I have the pink coolant btw. Or do you guys recommend using toyota coolant?

the color means nothing usually, read the can to be sure. Toyota claims their coolant is "Super Long Life" or something and it lasts 50K miles, and their new "Ultra Long Life" in the 05's lasts 100K. Not sure how that's really possible but I wouldn't leave it in the car that long anyway.

color makes no difference in performance. I don't think toyota is any better than other brands.

well i have this prestone stuff that has a pinkish coolant in it. Should that be ok ? I wasn't sure i originally bought it for use in my moms 2002 camry. But her car has yet to be low on coolant in the past 2 years. I just want to know because the level in my resevior tank is starting to drop becuase people have been driving my car nonstop with the a/c on. Should i just use this stuff or stop by a toyota dealership and keep it oem?

prestone makes a new coolant that is a light yellow color and it says it will mix with any other coolant out there... if your not sure just use that stuff. its rated at 150,000 miles just like dexcool.

Prestone makes the grey bottle with red cap which is pinkish in color. It's dex cool approved whatever that means. it says 5years /150,000 miles.

The dealer charges 12.99+tax for the toyota coolant and i'm not sure if its premixed or needs to be mixed.

still not sure which one to use. :?
