from what I read...i heard the AEM alternator pulley is pretty useless....it doesn't give enough noticable power...probably liek 1-2hp at most....most people said they didnt' feel teh difference...but you want true power from pulleys you gotta get teh Unorthodox Pulley set...alternator plus a crank pulley...heard that the crank pulley gives out the most noticable power..but i also heard alot of problems about changing the crank pulley

i have the AEM pulley on my 03 rolla and it has a minor ammount of noticable power but it makes a neat wining sound when you kick on the rear defrost..... actuallly im gonna take it off for the winter here in ohio cause with the defroster on it dont put out enough amps to charge the battery.

I don't understand why people say that the racing pulleys don't give any gains in hp. According to Unorthodox Racing, the claim to have gains up to 5 to 12 HP and 4 to 8 ft.-lbs. on normally aspirated engines and 8 to 16 HP and 8 to 18 ft.-lbs. on forced induction engines. They say that an average of 2.7 HP is gained from every pound lost off the crank shaft.

The Ultra S is only the crank pulley while the Ultra SS includes all the other accessory pulleys. For our cars, we use the crank and alternator pulleys. I think the Ultra SS is better

Very interesting reading. It vibrations are so critical, then the high performance pulleys should have a special type of harmonic balancer on it (like a high performance harmonic balancer redesgined to provide maximum gain but at the same time, creating much needed perfromance). From the article, the BMW has a rubber balancer on it. As far as the twisting of the crank goes, that is just a force of nature we have to deal with in the long run.

If you read UR's website thoroughly, they address the issue of harmonic dampers. They claim that what is commonly mistaken/referred to as a harmonic damper on many new engines is so small and non-functional that it could not possibly serve dampening to any useful degree and that it is perfectly okay and reliable to replace a crank pulley with one of their's. UR makes excellent products, so it's just a matter of whether or not you believe what they say.
