There is also a story floating around that apple created a fake overseas company to try to circumvent the us trademark 'iPhone' which is owned by linksys/cisco networks. I doubt this will be pretty but it's 2 big companies that are going to fight over the rights to this product

If I'm not mistaken, Cisco had that name (iPhone) trakemarked back in 2000. Apple was in talks with them about using it, but they apparently just said "Screw it" and used it anyway. I believe Cisco is in the process of suing them now. :D

i am going to wait until they have version with the 3g service. i can't believe they are releasing it without it for all the internet features it has. hopefully then they do that, flash memory will come down in price so they can offer a 16gb or 32gb version

I'll wait till they have a demo version at a Cingular store. So that I can play around with it. I like the idea of having a touchscreen since I am using a Treo 650 anyways. But no keypad makes it really hard to type/text with one or two hand. I am not use to touchscreen typing. Here is my review about it

It's a nice handset; it looks nice, and has some nice touches. I particularly liked the scrolling method, it looked very slick. The handset itself has a nice design, subtle, and somewhat understated. The features generally sound good; 4/8 Gb memory, Wi-Fi, etc.

    Now for the criticism:

The camera is at a standard level (by European standards), and there is no flash. Perhaps most disappointing of all in my opinion is the lack of UMTS/HSDPA support. There is also no expandable memory, although this is partly compensated for by the large internal storage.

The main selling point for the iPhone seems to be a combination of the Apple brand and the touchscreen input. When those novelties wear off Apple still needs to be delivering the goods.

not 100% sure if this is a repost but here:

    LOTS of pictures

Plus After numerous costly Apple purchases, I learned a very important lesson. You don't buy the first generation of any NEW Apple offering. If an iPhone is revealed tomorrow, by August a second revision will be out with more memory, bigger HD and longer battery life. So in general I will be waiting for the 2nd gen.

It's pretty crippled in many respects. It doesn't include 3g because Apple wants you to buy your songs and videos through iTunes instead of using Cingular Video, a slingbox or other technologies. Also, Apple may limit the software you can put on the iPod to only stuff made by them (or bought from them). That makes the iPhone a much less desirable device IMO.
