Color change for stock gages...

how would i go about doin that? is there any way i can change the color of my stock gages to red?

has anybody done this? process? anything i should look out for?

LED's in 03? can't remember.. if so, get new led's and re-solder.

if not, replace bulbs with red bulbs.

i did it to my 95, heres a pic

on my car i took out the whole cluster and there are 4 main bulbs in the back, replace with what i believe are the 194 bulbs that u can get a pepboys/autozone...then plug it all back in make sure they all work before u go and screw the cluster back in place then ur good...it looks really good at night too

im thinkin about switchin to LED cuz one of the bulbs is starting to fade, u can't see it in the pic though, but all the others are fine, i might just throw a new bulb in there and see what happens

I have red stock one of the few things I like about the Civic

Use #168 bulbs, they look great in the clusters.

Rolla95, dont try LED, they are dim as hell. I tried it before.

that blue and that red on those clusters look hella tight.... hmm I wonder what a mix of that blue and red would have lol shit I'ma get myself a purple gauge cluster background lol

Actually I just put LED's in my cluster and it's pretty damn bright.

i've heard that they were brighter than the regular bulbs, thats why i wanna try em, also, is it easy to change out all the other little bulbs, like the high beam one and ann others that aren't red already, i wanna do them too

They are bright, but they are too focused, and that's why they are so dim.

so ghetto up a mirror behind em, so they shine out

Yea, that's pretty nice. But you can still see the light is not spreading out evenly.

actually the light spread out pretty evenly, the thing that you might be seeing on one of the needle is due to light exposure when I took the pic during the day. I try to simulate night time by trying to cover the top of the dash so that it is more visible. I couldn't be anymore happier with this new light. it's bright enough that you can see the actual odo reading. the site where I bought it is www.autolumination.com yes it is the led with 5 bulbs in it that is 6.99 a piece. If you go look on 194 bulbs, it's the very first one on top.

I would assume those are pretty decent. A 360 degree of light, just like a regular bulb. 7 dollar a pop is pretty expensive tho. I would try the oval one first, only 2.5 a pop. And I know those superflux LEDs are good. They ARE wide.

NOOOO don't get the oval ones, I had them first and they suck, there are lots of hot spots and parts of the guage are not illuminated. That's why I switched to this one. It's worth the money.

Silver, what year is your vehicle? It looks like a 98-02 series. If so, did you have any problems with the matrix bulb fit? To me, it looks like those matrix bulbs would be too big to fit back into the gauge cluster, with all their extra bulbs sticking out all over. That definitely gives more uniform lighting than my oval bulbs do.

These are my gauges with just the oval bulbs from autolumination, I know that the photo quality sucks, bu I think you can see pretty clearly that my bulbs aren't nearly as even. With the temparature on the left side of my gauges you can barely read it all at night (don't try it while driving).

The thing to keep in mind with led's is that you can get differeny brightness ones... up to some that are almost blinding.
So choose on that parameter.
The other thing that you can do to even out the light on led's is sand down the dome on the top of them, so that they are flat. give it a try and compare 2 led's side by side, one that is not touched, and one that is sanded down on top. you will get a LOT better light disperience like that (also handy for doing interior lighting with led's, it spreads out the light a lot better that just leaving them round.

I agree w/ what was said in the previous post. In addition to that, If you get the matrix bulbs or just some wide angle LEDs, you shouldn't have a problem with "hot spots," where the LEDs show up brighter in some areas of the cluster than others.
