    Colder Thermostat

I have the SF turbo running at 7.5psi.... if I boost higher than that, I get detonation... My alcohol injection is supposed to fix that, but thats something that SF is gonna look at soon..

I discovered that the OEM thermostat on the 98-00 engine is 82c.... There is a thermostat available set at 71c ...

Would there be any negative effects of using the 71c thermostat?

I'm talking with Venom Performance about getting adjustable cam gears made up for our cars.

My buddy's 04 supercharged Impala was slightly knocking after he got a smaller pulley and went from 7psi to 10psi in boost.. he swapped out to a colder thermostat and it went away.

i dont mean cam timing, i mean ignition timing...... you knew that right?

i guess a colder thermostat could help to reduce overall engine temp, but i dont think in the long run its going to solve your problem. did he test it out on just the dyno, or does he run it HARD repeatedly on the street? because even though you will cycle coolant more often, coolent temps will still rise beyond normal with forced induction.

but this is only my opinions and suggestions...... i hope the thermostat works to fix your problem :p

Yah I mentioned the cam gears as a method getting rid of the detonation.... My buddy never tested anything on the dyno with his Impala... The car was built to run at 7psi and bumping to 10 with the colder thermostat works fine for him...

My alcohol injection system should solve the whole problem once its working properly... Its probably not spraying soon enough... but the thermostat seems like something that would benefit the engine since its already running at hotter than normal temperatures..
