Engine Code P0505 help

    Code P0505 help

    I keep getting code P0505 for the idle control valve. I took the valve off today and it opens and closes. Does anyone else know what to look for? The car is a 2001 Corolla. Also when I start my car sometimes it idles really high and then almost dies for a second like its trying to idle down.

    Ever figure it out?

    Could just be an air intake hose loose.
    or
    your intake air control valve is stuck or closed.

    I bought another idle air control valve on ebay and it fixed the problem. Now im getting the P0420 code.

    What the...

    Go to a muffler shop and have them replace the cat and clear the light. If the light comes back on, go to the shop and have a factory rear 02 put in.

    I already had the cat replaced and the code was still there so I replaced the front 02 sensor and it's fixed for now.
