Clutch Sensor, Is it easy to replace?

Hey, so lately iv gone to start my car, and it wont even try to start. I let off clutch, press again and again, then try to start, and it works. I talked to toyota, they said its probably the clutch sensor either sticking or just going bad. They want 80 dollars in labor to change it. The part is 40 dollars on top of that. I looked under there, and from what i see, it looks like 1 bolt and a snap in connector that goes to the wiring harness of the car. Is that all it takes, or is it harder than that???

Thanks for help, if this goes under category, i didnt know if its interior or powertrain, sorry mods if you have to move it.

it should just be a momentary push button kinda sensor. if i was you, i would just take out your existing sensor, figure out what kinda signal it outputs when the clutch is fully depressed and if it lets a signal out if it's not depressed. then just wire up a button somewhere by the key. so when you start your car, you can press in the clutch, press in the button and turn the key. or even easier, press in the clutch, turn the key and hold it, then you just have to press the button, kinda like a push start. this would be the most cost effective way to fix your problem and kinda make your car different, and theft detterent. but most people wouldnt agree with me on this.
my question is, if your in neutral, why do you need to start the car with the clutch disengaged? is it because the clutch makes it heavy on the engine to start?

It is similar to a brake switch, I would wire it over to test and maybe permanent. You could have the classic Toyota starter going bad.

Starter has already been replaced. I checked the sensor, its just 1 bolt holding it, i checked my haynes man. I forgot i had it. I looked at the switch, it looks like the carpet might have been getting in way of clutch going all the way back to hit it. So i think i fixed it, if still does it then ill need to replace switch, or make custom switch as you were talking about. Yes it is like the brake, thats what the parts guy even said.

but you could always push start it, thats usually how they steal it. so you have to have a fuel pump cutoff.
but if they have a flatbed truck, your screwed.

i would like to find a bluetooth kit that would work like the new mercedes. where you need the key somewhere on you in close proximity, then all you have to do is press a button to start it up
