    Clear corner problem

Hi all. I'm new to this forum. I was reading the DIY section about the clear corner, and I was successful until the point of taking out the amber piece. It looks like it is clipped on three locations, one on bottom, and 2 on top. I was able to loosen the bottom part, but not the top parts. I tried for maybe 2 hours and couldn't wiggle or get the amber piece to move at ALL. I'm doing this through the turn signal hole. Is there any special tools I need? All I had was a needle nose plier. Am I doing something wrong? Anyone else encountered this problem? Thanks.

after i broke the tab off.. I had trouble pushing the whole thing out of place it was kinda tough. But i used a flat head screw driver to push the amber part out of place. Just stick it in and give it a good push that should do something at least.

This may be a stupid question but from wat I see when you clear the corners it leaves a hole in the side. Is anyone having any problems with water getting in there when it rains. Thats really the only concern I have. Thx

Yeah Timbot is right ur going to have use a flat head screwdriver to push it out. I have done about 9 cars in So. Cal already. If u still need help junkyboy, u can pm me maybe I can give u a hand.

Oh yeah CorollaS916, there is no hole on the side of the headlight, its on the inside so nothing gets in.

A word of caution, If you can get something soft to stick on the end of the flat blade, if it slips (which it most likely will a couple times) you can end up with a BIG scratch on the inside of your headlight. You do need to push really hard while you slide, so you dont have enough time to back off before your scratch it if it does slip.

    Good luck

I found if I tapped the edge of the light where the peice was stuck it eventually came loose. we had a lot of those peices, so it took some time to get them all out. Just be careful you dont break tyhe tab off the one corner of the liught though, or it wont mount quite right

You can turn that nut on the back of the lights to re-aim it. Its a 10mm socket, a bent closed end wrench works the best foir that. Just point the car at a garage door and make them go as high as you want.

yeah just use a phillips screwdriver instead of flathead one, its gives more grip when you try to push it out aside. and yeah use a long nose pliers, i used a short plier to cut the amber pieces and the plastic socket hole for the turn signal got pretty bad.

Thanks for all u guys' replies. I think I'll try it again some other time...(I'm getting lazy) When I did it, I couldn't take it out, I was just gonna say f*ck it, and use brute force to snap it off, but I didn't want to break the big piece off, still have a small amber piece. LOL.

Don't use brute force... those three little tabs on the reflector will scratch the chrome of the headlight. Those 3 tabs appear to be holding the reflector there, but actually only one of them actually hold it there. You should be able to see and access two of those tabs from between the chrome part and the grey plastic cover. Use a screwdriver to jab at it (again this is not inside the headlight, its the area between the grey plastic cover and the chrome shell. If you broke one and it didn't come lose, it must be the other one. The 3rd one which you can't get to isn't holding the reflector there. Once the tab is broken is should come free by moving it with your finger. Good Luck. :)
