What the heck, $95 just to read the code? Don't you have a local shell rapid lube, or some other oil change place? they'll do it for free. I'd say buy a haynes manual, if you havent already, and start at the cheapest, and easyest thing first. BTW welcome to the forum

    check engine light help!

Ive been driving with it on for 4 days now. Instead of bringing it to a shop to read the code, I just bought a code reader(obdII) for $99. Better than paying $95 that a shop quoted me just to read the code. It says PO401 w/c is an insufficient exhaust gas recirculation flow. There's a number of possibilities; egr stuck open, open or short in vsv, map sensor, ecm & vsv malfunction. Where do i start checking? Has anybody had this problem? Is it still safe to drive. What are the possibilities if i dont get this fixed soon?

You could try to unhook the - battery lead and reset to see if possibly it was a one time fluke. CW

Anybody here works at a toyota dealership? Or know bout extended warranties? I got a quote already for an egr valve from taprecycling, $40. Then i'll get a map sensor from rockauto for $39. Should i just fix it myself & cancel the warranty to get a partial refund or bring it to toyota?????
