Well what is there around there? I know there are a couple people from Bay Area here. I am either going to be working in Fremonth or Palo Alto/Menlo and want to start looking at apartments in the area.

Also, what is there to do in the area?

Check craigslist, there are usually some good deals on there for apartments. I hope your not looking for roommates though.

I live and work in Menlo. What are you relocating for? Rent is fucking super expensive around here, there's no cheap rent, not even in the ghetto areas, in Menlo and PA. Fremont is much cheaper but the commute to and from the peninsula is horrible.

Not too much to do besides outdoorsy stuff around here -- lots of great trails for both biking and hiking. If you're into the night life, SF is where it's at.

I interviewed for a position at our factory in Fremont and at the service center in Menlo. COL sucks, I'd have to double my salary just to live how I live here...which seems ridiculous but I'll see what they have to offer....

I am totally down for outdoorsy stuff, that's all I do here...I dont think my subaru will pass your smog tests though.

Do you have a non-CARB approved intake or any modifications to the exhaust including but not limited to removal of the cat and aftermarket headers?

All of my stuff is non-CARB, because I live in a state that doesn't require smog testing. I also have a catless downpipe, cat back exhaust and a tune that makes me spit out more co2 than a f350 =D

California is way too strict on emissions but considering how many people are crammed down there...

keep an address in CO and register the car there. Better yet, put it in someone else's name up there so they can't get you legally for anything.

Funny, my job is in Menlo but I'm about to open a new facility in Fremont!

Also, we can go track racing :)

Yeah I see a crooked smog in your future unless you feel like going back to stock every two years.

I have the stock exhaust, so I could always change the DP out...If I keep my legal residence in CO, how would that work? Can I still buy a gun in CA? Do all that good stuff?

We do have emissions requirements here, so I would have to pass an emissions test to keep my registration here...they are just way easier to pass than a CA emissions test.

Just have someone else register the car who lives in Colorado, and you keep the car. I'm not sure how that would work if you get pulled over and the cop asks for your registration and sees it's not your address, so I would say just spend the 180-250 every two years for a smog. That way you can register the car in your name properly, AND keep all the work you've done to your car on at all times.

You would have to smog it right when you try registering your car in California. Then every 2 years. I would just keep a P.O. or something out there since you're already considered a resident and do it that way.

Yeah, there is also a visual inspection in CA.

You are free to modify anything behind the last emissions component (cat) but it has to be below 95 dB. This isn't checked for during the smog test, but you can get a fix it ticket for it.

Anything else, unless it has a CARB E.O. #, is illegal, and will fail the visual portion, even with legit emissions results. This part depends on how knowledgeable/cool the smog guy is.

It is a huge pain in the ass.

Yep, that's east bay prices. You're looking for 13 or 15 hundred a month for that on the peninsula.

Cool, I should know about the job today or monday....they said I would get a 2 week transitional period...well fuck me that doesn't give me a whole lot of time -_-

If I do get it I was going to try and live with my aunt in Foster City for a while, although I bet that commute to Fremont is going to blow....

    Where do you work?

I live in Menlo and work 2.5 miles away in Menlo as well. It takes me 20-30 minutes to get to work, it's fucking crazy. I'm about to start working in Fremont, on the other side of the bay, which will take me about 20 minutes as well.

Foster City to Fremont is probably a 40 minute commute.

Does a 2 week transitional period mean that you don't have to work?

I still work for them. HQ is in Palo Alto and we actually bought the old Nummi factory, so thats where i'd likely be working. But I applied and interviewed at Menlo, Palo Alto, and Fremont since its the same manager, who is also my current manager.

Nice, I saw the newly remodeled Nummi for the first time. Sick. We will be just down 880 from each other if you work in Fremont and literally 5 or 6 blocks away if you go to the MP showroom.
