    Changing Belts?

    Hey guys,

How hard is it to change the acc. belts on an 04 Corolla (not the timing belt)? I am used to Subarus as some of you know and they are painfully easy and their engines are completely different than that of a Toyota. Any good links to instructions on how to do this?

    Thanks!

    It is actually really easyy,

I have a 99 so it may be different, but all i had to do was remove one of the tension gears with a standard tool. The belt comes right off after wards (cause its loose all of a sudden) and u place the new one. Than replace the tension gear again. BUY the Haynes Repair manual, it will show u how to do it. Buy it either at a parts store or ebay. Very good investmentt

And corollas have timing chains so u really might not ever have to change it, since its a toyota = ).

You don't remove the tensioner, which is not a good idea. The tensioner is a 2 stage. It springs back to give slack when you use a wrench to pull it back on the false nut. It's better to change the belt with 2 people. One to pull the tensioner back and the other to put the belt on. I just changed mine a few weeks ago.
