    celica shift cable

will a celica shift cable fit a corolla, mine is shit right now, and i need to get a new one, monday a friend of mine and i are going to junk yards and looking through them for either 98-02 5 speed corollas, and we are going to look into trying a celica cable,

i really dont wanna pay $200 for toyota, when we can get one for basically free from a junk yard with my friends hook up, when we called they didnt know there was a 5 speed corolla, so thats why im wondering if a celica would work

oh yeah, its a 4 foot cable with a 2 inch throw

I dont think changing the cables is going to do a thing for you.
In preparing for the auto to manual swap I've learned a good bit about this.
For instance when you put a short throw into a Corolla, you don't change the cables - mainly because the length of the cable really doesnt matter as long as the interaction between the shifting unit and the transmission is simultaneous, that is all the matters. Shortening, lengthening, using one from another car, won't make a performance difference.

I think his is in need of replacing -- not being replaced for an upgrade.

I know that to swap a 6sp tranny in, you need different shift cables..but I'm not sure if the 5sp Celica cables will fit a Corolla or not..
