Car vibrating when stopped. Please help!

When I come to a stop at a redlight, or drive-thru, or anything where I keep the car stopped by just holding down the brake, my car starts to vibrate vigorously. It will keep doing so till I let off the brake and let it idle a foot or so, and then when I put my foot on the brake again it starts back up again. You can especially notice the steering wheel vibrating since it is just suspended in the air. I'm think it has something to do with the motor mounts, or another component of how the motor is mounted, but you guys know more than I do, so I figured I'd get your imput just so I have an idea for when I finally take it to a mechanic.

    Thanks!

not sure how old your car is.. but it could be the brake master cylinder failing. and causing a vacuum leak when you press on it.. lowering the idle, causing vibration

    Haha, sorry, I have a 94 DX.

Let me try to explain it better.

Alright. I am driving along the road, lalala, and then there is a red light. I brake and eventually come to a complete stop. I have an auto, so I keep my foot on the brake while the car is in D, I don't switch it to N. Ok, my foot is completely depressing the brake, now the whole dash/steering wheel, doors, front seats are vibrating in sync with the engine. That is why I feel it has to do with the motormounts, or something of the sort.

ok.. I've found older toyotas do that a lot. just the screws and nuts are gettin loose and they tend to vibrate around inside the dash a lot.. only solution would probably be to rip apart the dash and retighten everything you can possibly find.

Its the engine mounts guys. Mine does the same exact thing cause I need new engine mounts. Have your hood open and have your car running while someone shifts through the gears. You'll see that your ening will shift or move when shifting from park to revers, or to drive.

My friend's 89 Camry does this as well as my mechanic's mom's Camry. I'm not sure that it's the motor mounts as my mechanic said that it wasn't the problem.

that whole shaking thing was one of the main reasons I traded my 95 DX in, Car ran perfect but sometimes the shake would be so bad that fender lining would vibrate against the bumper cover very loud. every 93-97 rolla that comes in my shop does the same thing. mounts are just getting weak, Dealer will rape you go somewhere else
