car smells like shit when ac turns on

    car smells like shit when ac turns on

    i dont know if this is a defect
    but sometimes when i turn on the AC, it smells like baby dypers, lol

    do u guys know whats wrong

    You got mold/mildew build up in the a/c system. It's pretty common when you don't turn on the a/c for a while. Turning on the a/c a bit more often would prevent that, the smell should go away after a while, if it dosen't that mean the water drainage for the a/c system is clogged.

    I have the same problem, u have to move the lever to only INCABIN recirculated air. logo looks like this

    It only smells when its the other way. All my friends with toyotas have the same problem. A mechanic said it may be from some fluid (tranny oil) whose stench passes by the air flow vent; from the outside.

    weird, this used to happen a long time ago but it stopped, but it recently just happened again, i think its probably cuz its been raining out here lately

    just turn the ac on periodically (every week or two) to flush out the buildup.

    strange, my incabin thing has always been on the left

    luckily God invented the Air Freshener, i have like 3 of them in my car hahaha

    mildew.... i wouldn't go as far to say that it smells like diapers, maybe i'd go with that it smells like recycled theme park (disneyland knotts) water

    I think all new cars have that after the new freon was put into affect ... Smells like PISS...... Butu Auto Zone sells something you can stick down your vents and it will take that smell out for a good amount of time .....

    or you can go to Walmart and buy those big ass car fan that plugs into the AC adaptor and fan the smell away. = )
