    Car radar detectors

    Ok i got one from my friend but it has no brackets to put on the window so i double sided taped it to the dash...if it is noton the window will it make a difference in performance..or is it the same where it is it is like 6 inches from the windshield in the middle of the dash

    Shouldn't affect the microwave radar detecting, but for laser it's prefered to be up where the windshield doesn't scatter the beam too much.

    It should be mounted on the windshield overlooking the road so that the eye would have maximun pickup capacity front and rear. By mounting it so low you are risking a pasanger in the back getting in the way of the bean and less range distance in the front. You can consider contacting the company that produced the radar, many times they carried replacement parts.

    You can also get generic mounting kits very cheap at places like Wal Mart.

    nah you and the ontarions are the ones who cant have one. i got mine taken away when i went back to windsor with one in my car. the most f***** up part was that i had been living in canada for 5 years. and had just moved to the US a couple of months ago and my whole time there i didnt hear any such rule. i wanted to take the cop to court cuz he said there are signs at the border and to this day i have yet to find one. sorry to say it folks but.

    Do you have metalized tint? If so, the tint will significantly reduce your warnings from behind (if you had a V1, you'd be able to tell) or from the sides of your car... Look out!

    Also, higher is generally better.
