what are the CV's? and agian i think the transmission is on the left side? the noise is coming from the right im pretty sure of it....you think it could be a strut?

If you have strut failure you will see some fluid on the strut. It is normal to have some fluid on the top of the strut where the piston slides, but is should not go beyond the top ledge. If you think it's struts, perform a jounce test.

But your problem sounds like a CV joint (as mentioned) except that it would be an often occurance not just in 1st gear. The CV joint extends from the transmission to the wheel. Unless for some reason it is binding in 1st gear it wouldn't make sense for it to be the CV joint though.

It would all depend on how bad the problem is. But I would take it in and have it checked out if you don't know in fact what exactly is wrong with it.

^^^^never mind...i definatly think that its that, some of the symptoms are wheel vibration at higher speeds and grinding threw gears....estimated cost to repair is like 500 dollars  toyota BETTER COVER THIS. do you think that my warrenty will remain on the CV joints, eventho my car is lowered? wow you guys have been really helpful

it all depends... i really dont think that cuz you have lowered you car unless you did it improperly would void ur warranty..

WIth most dealers they're going to throw anything they can at you to say you voided the warranty just so they don't have to work for free. Waranty jobs suck (for mechanics). Personally, I'd do it myself. If you have any mechanical knowledge. It's quite easy to do. Just a little time consuming.

o man i will so go in there and fuck them up if they dont cover this...you dont understand. if you recall my engine was hydrolocked...they called me up and told me my clutch was alittle worn out, and that it would be a "Good idea" to replace it... i told them that because my car was under warrenty that they could replace it. at that instant the tech said he would call me back... he called back 2 hours later to tell me the clutch didnt need to be replaced only "Resurfaced" which was not covered under warrenty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they are fucking crooks, those bastards warrentys mean absolutly nothing

i dont want to pay a penny for something that was not my fault

car making a weird grinding noise...

ok this all started yesterday i dont know what it is and im really scared i might need to take it back to the shop :(. yesterday i was pulling out of a parking space and my car popped out of reverse into neutral...after that when ever i rev 1st gear up to about 4k rpms it makes a weird grinding, or rubbing noise idk? at first i thought it could be my wheel rubbing in the wheel weld seeing how it is lowered...then i thought it could be the transmission. the noise is comming from the right passanger side, but the transmission bolts up on the left side? why does it only make this noise in first gear, and it sounds like popping noise when i tap the gas? remember right side of the car...any suggestions at to what it might be before i take it to the dealership?

clutches, brakes, etc are all wearable parts...they're rarely, if ever, covered under warranty.

yeah but thats just the engine warrenty....if you did not read the post above i told you the story about how they were going to cover my clutch but then changed their mind...different parts are warrented...my engine is warrented by the salvage yard that the pulled it out of when my car got hydrolocked

as for the audi...i bought that as a salvage, and im thinking about selling it for parts cause its alot of work that needs to be done...i picked it up from a friend who gave it to me from an auction for 1500 bucks...i figure if i part that out i could get at least 3000 for it or sell it as is for 2500 its a 99 quatro a4 with 80k on it...the front unibody is damaged pretty badly

    The front unibody?

The rear is unibody. If only the front end is damaged, I'd fix it and drive it. A4 vs. Corolla? Bye bye little Rolla. My gf's friendgot an A4 from a salvage yard with rear quarter damage on the driver's side. Fixed it, paint matched it, put some rims on it and for about $4000 all together she has a car that is f'n NICE! 1.8Turbo. :drools: Now there's a nice platform.

hmmmm or sell them both and get a 240sx, with the silvia conversion SR20DET ;)

the only problem i face is that i have to give half of what i make on the corolla to my parents, cause they paid for half of it :(

update on cars condition, i havent driven the car since last night, just drove it today...the grinding noise has since smoothed out...now its just a really loud rumbling noise...lots of vibration in the petals under WOT, car not throwing any codes yet so i dobut its the engine...could it be a belt or a pully? cause they are located on the side where the noise is coming from... how can i tell if the CV joint is in fact broken by looking at it?
