Can it be done? Extending Injen (or any) intake for 8th gen Corolla to create CAI?

Since the EL prototype is pretty much gone... I was wondering...

Getting Cheapo *Bomz intake pipe from ebay, then extending it to create a CAI... wouldn't this technically work? Any difference in getting a cheapie intake versus an injen one for this project?

the only problem i have had with cheap intakes is the correct fitment or lining up with bolts. I got a cold air for my accord that was a cheap ebay knock off and while it fit, it didn't line up with the place where it was supposed to mount. the boot held it on there though and it worked great. i would just replace the cheap filter they supply with a better one. i took off the extention eventually though because i took out the black fender lining and the tire was kicking a lot of water up at the filter.

so to sum it up, yes it would work

I think hummerh2o built one using parts that is as good as the EL. the EL never had any performance tuning it just fit the curves around the battery. I think you could build your own for under $100 including heat wrap. would work as well as the EL or better. I've given up on getting an EL or any intake, going to save for other projects.. like rims
