Engine cam gears

    cam gears

    I have noticed that OBX offers +/- 10 degree cam gears for our cars. Anyone have any info on these things?

    umm....teh 1zz has contiuously variable valve timing...which means that the ECU rotates the cam gear as it sees fit for the driving conditions. Meaning that this thing is worthless (I think)...can anyone else comment?

    From what i know about VVT-i, im gona have to agree with you on this. Unless someone else knows more then we do, lol.

    that's the difference between v-tec and vvti. vtec is essentially a "dumb" system. You set the timing by advancing or retarding the cam while the engine is off, and then at a certain RPM, the timing will change so that you can get the most out of the engine. Esssentially, you have 2 timing settings that have to be chosen before hand. VVti lets the ECU take care of all the timing, advancing or retarding when deemed necessary. It's also an interative process (I think), so instead of just referencing certain degrees or advance...the ECU tells the cam to advance or retard a certain amount, takes a reading and makes adjustments to the timing according to the changes.[/code]
